Long Beach Racers

New Year, new truck, and new season of the SCORE off road racing series. Long Beach Racers armed with a 2012 Toyota Tacoma TX Baja Series crossed the desert to compete in the first race of the season, the Laughlin Desert Challenge.  This is a two day event on a closed 6.25 mile loop. The stock mini class in which LBR competes had 85 minutes to complete 5 laps on each of the two days.

On day one Ted Moncure and Marco Dos Santos took the helm with two major objectives, to finish and place first in our class and second was to deliver a running truck for Andy Bell and Chris Livingston to pilot the next day.   Moncure and Dos Santos made easy work of the 6 miles posting up very consistent lap times. The LBR Tacoma handled the brutally rough course with precision and grace, finishing up in 1:09:20.

On day two Bell and Livingston were ready to go. The truck seemed to be in good running shape from the day before and LBR was looking for another finish. The truck got off to a great start, but then two miles into the race the center support bearing failed. With such a short race Bell stayed in it, and Livingston got on the radio to alert the crew that we were coming in to the hot pit and needed a drive shaft swap. As always the professional LBR crew was ready to go as soon as the truck pulled in. They made quick work of the drive shaft and getting the swap done in just 12 minutes.  Bell and Livingston rocketed back on to the course on a mission for victory. The rest of the run went exactly to plan and the driving team scored another finish taking only 1:06:42 to complete the race and winning all the points for the weekend because no other Stock Minis came out to play.

Long Beach Racers would like to thank the LBR crew for all the time and effort that went into making this possible. We would also like to thank all of our sponsors: Turn 14 Distribution, K&N, Blue C, Bilstein, BFG Tires, Mastercraft seats,Defined Engineering, PCI race radios, Nitro Gear, MBRP exhaust,
Toyota, TRD, spin imaging,  skullcandy, Hella and CMI skidplates.
